“Then the temple of the Lord was filled with the
cloud, and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud,
for the glory of the Lord filled the temple of God.” (vv.13-14)
Here in
chapter 5, the Temple is finished, the silver and gold furnishings have been
brought into the treasuries, and the Ark has been placed in the inner sanctuary
under the wings of the cherubim. The stage is finally set for the Levites and
Priests to perform their services unto the LORD in the temple.
All the
Levites who were musicians were dressed in fine linen and playing cymbals,
harps and lyres, and they were accompanied by 120 priests sounding trumpets, joining
in unison to give praise and thanks to the Lord (v.12). Also, the singers
raised their voices in praise to the Lord (v.13). The result of this worship
service was, “the temple of the Lord was filled with the cloud, and the priests
could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord
filled the temple of God” (v.14).
Oh God may
we be a generation that seeks Your face, and may Your glory fill our hearts, as
we put you first. Help us to worship You in spirit and in truth.
The Truth
“Worthy
is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!” (Revelation 5:12)
