Zechariah 9:9
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, your King comes to you: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding on an ass, and on a colt the foal of an ass.”
Here the prophet Zechariah calls for a “shout” of joy because their King, the promised Messiah, the Son of David comes to them, full of righteousness, to redeem and to save. Not a conqueror like Alexander the Great but one of a different fashion; meek, lowly, riding on a colt the fold of an ass.
This declares that they should not look for such a king as would be glorious in the eyes of man but, he should be poor, and yet in himself have all power to deliver his own - Jesus.
The Truth
“Tell the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your King is coming to you, Lowly, and sitting on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.” (Matthew 21:5)
