“If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.” (v.12)
The wise man receives instruction and becomes wiser, while the mocker ridicules those who would bring him correction and his heart is full of contempt for doing so. Therefore, do not correct the mocker (the fool), for he will not receive it, and it will only bring you insults.
But, give instruction and correction to a wise man and scripture tells us, “He will yet be wiser; teach a just man, and he will increase in learning” (v.9). While it is not easy to take criticism, scripture tells us to listen carefully to it, and we will be the better for it.
The Truth: “For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have in abundance, but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.” (Matthew 13:12)
