James 5:7
“Be patient therefore, brothers, to the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and has long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.”
Here James gives an exhortation towards those who were oppressed and persecuted by the pious and wealthy - to patiently endure the injuries without murmuring and without resistance. For those who injured and wronged them, would be suitably punished at the Day of Judgment as their case will be in the hands of God.
We too should be patient, not just in general or for the moment, but as far into the future as the coming of the Lord. James uses the example of the farmer who plants in expectation of a future result, who waits and endures the time until he receives the expected reward.
So we should patiently endure for our reward as well.
The Truth
“And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.” (Hebrews 6:15) “Now Abraham was one hundred years old when his son Isaac was born.” (Genesis 21:5)
