Galatians 6:2
"Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ"
The Law of Christ is the Law of love. Christ gave us no other law than this law of mutual love: "A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another." (John 13:34) Jesus also directed us to, “Love God with all our hearts and to love our neighbor as our selves.” (Matthew 22:36-40)
To love, in these examples, means to bear another's burdens. Christians must have strong shoulders to bear the burdens of their fellow Christians - to be able to minister in love to those who are hurting. Those who fail to do so, expose their lack of understanding of the law of Christ. Love, according to Paul, "believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things." (1 Corinthians 13:7) – meaning, I’m with you no matter what.
Christian love then does not allow us to bail when the going gets tough or give lip service to a brother/sister in need. We are called to help our brothers/sisters by; taking up their load, sustaining them by our counsel, our exhortations, our prayers and restoring them to strength and back into their position in the body.
The Truth
"We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the week, and not to please ourselves." (Romans 15:1)
