Then King
Ahasuerus asked Queen Esther, “Who is he, and where is he, who would presume to
do thus?” Esther said, “A foe and an enemy is this wicked Haman!” (vv.5-6)
Here in
chapter 7 Esther finally made king Ahasuerus aware of Haman’s hatred for her,
her people, and of course, Mordecia. She makes it clear to the king that, “they (her people) were sold, not as slaves, but to be destroyed, to be slain, to be annihilated”
(v.4). And that Haman had manipulated information
to make Mordecai and his people appear as threats to the empire (Esther 3:8-9).
Upon hearing this information, the king became so enraged that he withdrew himself from his banquet to walk in the garden to consider his response (v.6). Upon his return, he
found that Haman had fallen across the couch where Ester was, and said, “Will
you also assault the queen while I am in the house” (v.8)? Therefore, the king
ordered Haman to be hung from the very gallows he had built for Mordecai (v.9).
Be careful of the traps you lay in hopes of ensnaring others, for you may find yourself caught in that very trap, as did Haman.
The Truth
“Whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap” (Galatians 6:7)
