“Mordecai
was bringing up Hadassah, that is Esther, his uncle’s daughter, for she had no
father or mother. Now the young lady was beautiful of form and face, and when
her father and her mother died, Mordecai took her as his own daughter.” (v.7)
Esther
means “star.” Through this beautiful star (life), God is about to save his
people. Although there is no mention of the name of
God in the book of Esther, the presence and workings of God clearly appear in
the pages of this story. His preparations for deliverance can be seen long
beforehand, in the beauty of Esther, in the position her uncle held at court,
in the favor she won with the king, and in the discovery through Mordecai of
the plot against the king's life.
This
story is preserved for us in order to show how God overrules all the cleverness
and folly of men, to carry out His own purposes. While the king and his servants were simply looking for a beautiful women to appease his needs, God prepared
Esther, a Jewish girl, to captured the heart of the king, in place of the
disposed the Vashti, to become Queen of the mighty Persian Empire, in order to
save God’s people from massacre.
Therefore, what ever situation you may be facing where you can't see pasted your circumstances, rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; trust in the Lord. He is more
farseeing, his plans more far‑reaching, his help more certain,
than all.
The Truth
“Wait on the Lord, and keep
His way, And He shall exalt you to inherit the land; When the
wicked are cut off, you shall see it.”
(Psalm 37:34)
