Revelation 9:20
“The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands...”
Here in chapter 9, the first two of the final three trumpets are sounded, releasing demonic judgments upon the earth. Unlike the previous four trumpet judgments, these target man rather than nature.
But, even in the face of “hell on earth,” where man is tormented and 1/3rd of the earth’s population is killed - man continues in his ways and refuses to repent.
It is God’s specific purpose in the midst of judgment to bring repentance. Yet often, as here, men fail to respond to His correction.
The Truth
“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)
