Revelation 4:1
“After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven, and the first voice which I had heard, like the sound of a trumpet speaking with me, said, ‘Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after these things.’”
After the Lord Jesus had instructed the apostle to write to the churches the things that are, there was another vision given to John. The apostle saw a throne set in heaven, the glorious One upon the throne (v.2-3), four-and-twenty seats around the throne that were filled with four-and-twenty elders (representing, probably, the whole church of God v.4), the seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne (v.5) and four living creatures (v.6-8), between the throne and the circle of the elders, standing between God and the people – the judgment seat of Christ.
Courtrooms are built to intimidate and dispense justice and the Supreme Court’s room is the most intimidating place of judgment on earth. However, it can also be a place of comfort as well, a welcome sight to those who are innocent and seek vindication.
The throne room in heaven, the judgment seat of Christ, can be both a terrifying and welcome sight as well. The only question is, are you in Christ? Or are you not? If not, come now while there is still a time of grace before He calls all before His throne.
The Truth
“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)
