Genesis 19:15-16
"When morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, 'Up, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away in the punishment of the city. But he hesitated. So the men seized his hand and the hand of his wife and the hands of his two daughters, for the compassion of the Lord was upon him; and they brought him out, and put him outside the city."
Lot had many sheep, goats and other animals, along with many herdsmen and other servants, as we saw in Genesis Chapter 13. He had a fine home, as is implied in this chapter. He had money and prestige. And, he also had two angels of God in his house telling him that if he did not leave Sodom immediately, he would die! But if he went, he would lose everything he had; and he had a great deal!
Then the men, these angels in the form of men, now "seized his hand" and also took the hands of the others, pulling them all out of the house and outside of the city to safety. Guardian Angles, sent by God, to pull Lot to safety even when he was hesitant to go on his own. Why, because Lot was found to be righteous.
This tells us that the grace of God is based on faith, even though our response to Him may be small. This also speaks to the fact that God keeps His promises, for He did not destroy the righteous with the wicked.
The Truth
“The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority.” (2 Peter 2:9-10)
