And he (Moses) said, “O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of whomever else You May send.” (v.13)
Forty years earlier Moses was jumping the gun to deliver God’s people. But now he’s in a completely different place saying, “I’m not the man for the job. Send whomever else You want, someone more qualified, more capable, someone more worthy than I.
To be humble is one thing but to argue against the command of God (v.12) and give God counsel on whom to choose, that’s a different story.
As we see in verse 14 God’s anger kindled against Moses, a man who doubted His call. True the Lord was angry with Moses but He did not give up on him. He simply expanded His call to include Aaron (v.14-16) as Moses’ mouthpiece. Aaron would be the voice to the people, and Moses would relay God’s message to Aaron.
Understand this, just as the Lord did not give up on Moses so He will not give up on you. If He has you in mind for a task, He will remove all your objections and clear the way for His will to be accomplished through you.
The Truth: “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!” (Romans 11:33)
