“The Heart Speaks Truth”
“A good man
out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of
the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of
the heart his mouth speaks.” (v.45)
Simply put, our words reveal our hearts. The things we say, and how we say
them expose and unveil the condition and attitudes of our hearts. I doubt most
people realize this - if they did, they would be more careful about what they
say and how they say it.
Unfortunately man can only look at the outward appearance, which includes both actions and words. Only God knows the recesses of the heart - the true motivation for what we say and do. Therefore,
in judging the character and the condition of the heart, we need to look very closely at both over time. For men are great at doing good deeds for recognition and praise, as well as saying one thing but doing another.
The
Truth
“As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person." (Proverbs 27:19)
