Daniel 1:8a
“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself…”
This portion of scripture is referring to the King’s command that Daniel eat the King’s meat, that had been offered to idols and drink the King’s wine, which could dull his faculties. Instead, he ate vegetables and drank water, thereby not defiling himself according to the law of Moses. He could have taken his liberty but he purposed in his own heart to follow the law and set himself apart to honor his God.
Whenever we set something apart for God, our time, our money, or our service – He will never be indebted to us. As Pastor Chuck use to say, “You can’t out give God.” He will always give back to you, “exceedingly abundantly above all you could ask or think.” (Ephesians 3:20)
The Truth
Serve God. He will honor you, meet you there and bless you abundantly.
